Eurochamp achieves IFS ESG sustainability assessment

Yesterday, 21 February 2024, Eurochamp became the first canning company in Spain to obtain the IFS ESG sustainability certification. The cooperative has successfully passed the ESG Check programme, which assesses a company’s sustainability management system.

The presentation of the ESG Check certificate took place at the Eurochamp headquarters in Alfaro, La Rioja. During the event, Santiago Salinas (on the left in the photo), General Manager of Eurochamp, received the accreditation document from the representative of Kiwa Spain, Alberto Gómez, in the presence of Eva Jiménez Costa (on the right), from CNTA, and María Conde, responsible for the implementation of the IFS ESG at Eurochamp.

“We are proud to be the first Spanish company in the sector to receive the ESG,” said Eurochamp’s General Manager, Santiago Salinas. “This award undoubtedly reinforces the social commitment of the cooperative, as Eurochamp is one of the main sources of employment and wealth in the rural areas of eastern La Rioja. “Eurochamp not only produces canned mushrooms in a responsible way, we are building a legacy of sustainability. Being a pioneer in obtaining the IFS ESG is a milestone for us, but it can also be a call to action for all agri-food companies that are challenged to adapt to the requirements and demands of consumers and markets,” added Salinas.

Finally, during the award ceremony, Eurochamp’s Managing Director thanked “the customers, suppliers and collaborators who contribute every day to make this recognition possible”.

Eurochamp was advised by CNTA to prepare the verification, while the external audit was carried out by Kiwa Spain. For both companies, the collaboration with Eurochamp was the first milestone in the implementation of this IFS protocol.
