One thousand families at the service of the sector
Eurochamp is the world’s second largest operator of processed mushrooms. It was born from the merger of the cooperatives Unichamp (Ausejo) and Champiunión (Autol), both created in La Rioja (Spain) in 1974. It is currently made up of 140 producer members from La Rioja, Navarra, Aragón and Cuenca.
Eurochamp brings together most of the mushroom sector in La Rioja, with a share of 80% of total Spanish canned mushroom production and 25% of the most common varieties of cultivated mushrooms. In Cuenca (Castilla-La Mancha, Spain), Coicham-Eurochamp’s partners are the main growers of mushrooms for the processing industry.
Eurochamp is one of the main generators of employment and wealth in the rural areas of La Rioja. Its activity brings economic development and long-term sustainability to the populations of the regions in which it operates.
Eurochamp controls all the production processes that make it possible to produce canned mushrooms: compost, cultivation, manufacture and marketing. This is the only way to ensure the livelihoods of the 1,000 families who depend on the cooperative.
